Irbid Branch

The Branch Council was created in the Governorate in 2001 as an Association commission made by the amended Law so the Council replaces the Branch Committee and takes its role under a legislative and executive power aiming at serving the engineering setting within its jurisdiction. The Branch Council is expected to play a key role through its duties and powers as stated in the Law, such as:

  1. To manage the Governorate Branch affairs and collect the fees and other revenues payable to the Association at the Branch.
  2. To form branch committees in the engineers’ gathering places within the Governorate.
  3. To organize the scientific, professional, cultural and social activities of the Governorate Branch.
  4. To maintain the profession’s principles, traditions and ethics and to advocate the Governorate Branch members’ rights.
  5. To settle the professional and technical disputes arising between the members of the Governorate Branch members; to monitor the performance of the engineering offices and companies at the Branch; and to make recommendations with respect thereto to the competent Division or the Engineering Offices & Companies Body Council, as the case may be, to settle the dispute or take the legal actions as necessary.
The Branch Council has three committees as follows:
  • Ramtha Branch Committee.
  • Koura Branch Committee.
  • Bani Kinanah Branch Committee.

Under Article 3 of the Association Law, the Engineers Association has two centers in Amman and Jerusalem, and it shall have the right to open other branches in various cities of the Kingdom.

Based on this authority, the branch committees were formed under the governorate branch councils whose members are elected for three years.

The branch councils and committees are the pillar on which the Association Council depend to regulate the profession and take care of the fellow engineers’ interests in the governorates. Therefore, the Association new Law added several provisions in relation to the branch councils organization, elections and assurance of independence and decentralization in order to incorporate the real democracy in the practice of the Association process and in forming an institutional operation recognizing the missions, powers and objectives vested in the public commissions and branch councils in governorate.

Below are the top goals the branch councils are attempting to achieve:
  1. To contribute to the scientific, professional and practical activities that help developing the local community.
  2. To enforce the decisions made by the Association Council and to make recommendations to the Council contributing to the profession development.
  3. To coordinate with the branches and committees of trade unions through the Professional Association Complex in the area.
  4. To work on expanding the fellow engineers participation base and expanding the association, social and sport activities contributing to the profession and professionals development.
  5. To take care of the national public causes.
  6. To take care of and work on establishing engineer housing societies.
  7. To activate the communication means between the Association (the Headquarter) and branches.
  8. To secure the provision of potential services to the fellow engineers at their places of residence or work through facilitating the communication of the Association branches with the Headquarter via computer connection in order to ease the fellow engineers reference.
The branch council consists of seven members as follows:
  • Branch Council Head.
  • Council Deputy Head.
  • Three members.

They are all elected by the Branch General Assembly and on a free and democratic basis.

Branch Council objectives:

The Branch Council action plan is concentrated on achieving general and various goals through the available and necessary means to do so.

To continue the communication with the engineers and their engineering gatherings and to create a social engineering environment.

  • To update the list of engineers’ addresses in the Governorate, especially the electronic address and phone number.
  • To hold a variety of social, religious and entertainment activities and to invite the engineers to such activities.
  • To make different visits to the engineering gatherings in the Governorate at least once a year.
  • To purchase new plots of lands.
  • To continue to hold the summer club for engineers’ children.
  • A yearly social trip abroad and another trip within Jordan.
  • An Umrah trip every year.
  • An annual Iftar for engineers’ orphan children.
  • To take care of the retired fellow engineers and hold activities for them.

To contribute to upgrading the scientific and professional engineering work.

  • To continue to issue Irbid Engineer Magazine (at least three volumes per period).
  • To hold a scientific conference named (Irbid First Engineering Conference) in cooperation with universities and various institutions in the Governorate (one per period).
  • To hold the lectures, seminars, workdays, scientific workshops and conferences.
  • To hold training courses and workshops.
  • To activate the joint committee with the Contractors Association, Irbid Greater Municipality and Civil Defense.
  • To activate the role of the Council to follow up the application of the profession practice regulation in the Branch and to work on mitigating the engineer’s work duality, especially the engineering offices.
  • To activate the field inspection.

To activate the Association structures

  • To activate the activities committees in the Branch and hold regular meetings with them.
  • To activate the braches committees and to hold regular meetings with them.
  • To activate the Central Body in the Branch and to hold regular meetings with them.
  • To push for amending the Association Law for further decentralization.
  • To organize the elections of Ramtha, Bani Kinana and Koura Branches Committees.
  • To supervise the organization of elections of Branch Council, Engineering Divisions and Association Council.
  • To participate in the Branches Conference.

To continually develop the Branch and upgrade the employees’ performances in order to provide excellent services.

  • To develop the employees’ performances.
  • To hold meetings with the Branch employees.
  • To continually equip the Branch and update its devices.
  • To reduce the dependence on the Center by having more powers.

To communicate and interact with the local community.

  • To activate the relation of the Association with the Public and Private Sectors institutions.
  • To provide the Association-related experiences.
  • School Bag.
  • Ramadan Food Package.
  • Charities support.
  • To strongly support the community and its fair causes and national occasions.

To defend the engineers’ rights and interests.

  • To meet the officials.
  • Sit-ins and strikes.
  • To work on creating training opportunities for the new fellow engineers and to activate the field inspection.
  • To work on creating job opportunities for the fellow engineers.

To prepare and qualify Association trainees for voluntary work and for participating for such works.

  • To form a consultancy committee for the Branch Council consisting of experienced and proficient fellow engineers.
  • To hold welcoming courses to the Association and its Law and regulations.

To grow the Branch’s income.

  • Engineers Training Center.
  • To purchase lands and properties.
  • To complete the Engineer Park.
  • To work on finding investment projects generating income for the Branch.

To cooperate with the state institutions (such as Ministries, Municipalities, Universities) in order to benefit the Association and its members, as well as the Nation.

  • To form joint committees.
  • To cooperate in organizing a variety of scientific and professional activities.
  • To exchange experiences.

To continue to support the causes of State and Nation.

  • To continue to support the fair national and Islamic causes.
  • To continue to resist the naturalization with the Zionist enemy.
  • To hold the third Association Conference on Resistance of Naturalization with the Zionist Enemy.
  • To organize activities and events in the different national occasions.
