The Conditions of Nomination and Membership of the Council
The role of the Jordanian Engineers Association Council
It is stipulated for the nomination of the council:
- The candidate for the Chairman position or Vice-Chairman shall be a member who has been practicing the engineering profession for a period for not less than fifteen years and shall not be a minister or mayor or of those who earn a salary from the government except for pensions.
- The candidate for the membership of the council shall be a member who has been practicing the engineering profession for a period for not less than seven years.
- The Chairman, his deputy or the council member may be re-elected for a second session and none of them is entitled to nominate himself for the position itself except after after the expiry of one session at least at the end of his last session period.
It is noteworthy that the law and before its amendment in the year 2011, it was stipulated that the practice of the profession shall be for a period not less than 10 years for the Chairman and 5 years for the Vice Chairman.
Interestingly, the Law regarding the Engineering Professions owners Association which was amended in 1968, stipulated that the candidate for the Chairman position had to pay 10 dinars and the candidate for the Vice-Chairman and the membership positions had to pay 5 dinars to be returned upon him winning and to be recorded as income for the association in case of failure.
